Priya Parrotta Natarajan is a writer, musician and environmental educator. When she was twenty-five, she authored an interdisciplinary book titled The Politics of Coexistence in the Atlantic World. Priya studied History and Music at Brown University; as well as global environmental politics at Oxford University’s School of Geography and the Environment.
Priya's style as a singer and songwriter is multicultural and environmentally conscious. Her recent collaborations have involved genres such as classical and semi-classical Indian, classical Western, blues and soul, and a range of Latin styles. Her original music seeks to convey the intricate connections between humanity and the Earth.
Prior to starting Music & the Earth, Priya worked for the Smithsonian Institution, the Red Cross, the Orchestra of the Americas for Social Inclusion, and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations. Like countless millions around the world, Priya grew up by the edge of the ocean, where she learned how to think, to sing, and to look towards the horizon.
